Five ways to check MS Windows activation status

Windows activation ensures that your system is genuine and eligible for critical updates, security features, and personalization. Below are five easy ways to check your Windows activation status.

1. Check Activation via Settings (Windows 11 & 10)

  1. Press Windows key + I to open Settings.
  2. Go to SystemActivation.
  3. If you see “Windows is Active”, your copy is genuine.

  1. Press Windows key + I.
  2. Click Update & SecurityActivation.
  3. You should see “Windows is activated with a digital license.”

2. Use Control Panel (Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista)

  1. Press Windows key + R, type control, and hit Enter.
  2. Navigate to System and SecuritySystem.
  3. Scroll to find the Windows Activation section.

3. Use Command Prompt

  1. Right-click Start → choose Command Prompt (Admin) or PowerShell (Admin).
  2. Type: slmgr.vbs /xpr → press Enter.
  3. A pop-up will show if Windows is permanently activated or still in trial.

4. Use the Run Dialog to Launch Activation Wizard

  1. Press Windows key + R.
  2. Type slui.exe and hit Enter.
